Descrição
Resumo:This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric behaviour of the Portuguese version of the Inventory of Attitudes toward Seeking Mental Health Services (IAPSSM) when applied to a sample of women in the perinatal period. The participants (175 pregnant women or women during the postpartum period) answered a set of questionnaires (IAPSSM, General and Actual Help seeking Questionnaire, Depression Literacy Questionnaire, Emotion Regulation Difficulties Scale). The Confirmatory Factor Analysis supports the adequacy of the original three-dimensional model of the IAPSSM (Psychological Openness, Help- -Seeking Propensity, and Indifference to Stigma). The IAPSSM presents good convergent validity and fidelity, except for the dimension Psychological Openness. The results suggest that IAPSSM is a questionnaire with potential for use in research and clinical practice, allowing the identification of psychological (attitudinal) factors that influence women’s use of mental health services in the perinatal period.
