Resumo:In this context, we intend to remember the main axes of redefining the object of study of the city taking into consideration the existing reality in the city of Porto and specifically in its eastern part, recovering in this way, some results of a study conducted in the decade 90. It is common trait of the entire social structure the constant movement of its elements, causing incessant process of rebuilding and the urban structure does not escape this movement of becoming constant. We are in a line that tends to regard the city as complex and as complicated not only by postulating that it works with the basic reasoning and rationales multiple possibly conflicting, forming an open system. Thus, we propose to hand-address the dimensions of social recomposition of the urban space and Porto that may contribute to an enlightening debate about the definition of an object of study guided by an increasingly vague, but increasingly complex and important point view a more consistent in terms of urban planning.
