Descrição
Resumo:This study articulates the analyses of the text with the available documents, establishing the circumstances surrounding the organization and edition of Bernardes’ work, particularly the text entitled Várias Rimas ao Bom Jesus, published in 1594. In the second part of this study, the author explains how the text written by the brother of Fr. Agostinho da Cruz is profoundly identified with the late 16th Century and early 17th Century dominant religious sentiments. Therefore, the author examines the relationships that can be established between this text and N. Ésquio’s Exercícios, and the texts which were, at a certain point, influenced by the biblical Psalms, particularly those considered as «penitential».
