Summary:More than a set of technical drawings, this dissertation seeks to report on an architectural design. And by architectural design we can define all types of records in search of a solution. From drawings, photographs, quotes by reference authors or theoretical instruments that allow us to read and, above all, transform the reality we work with. That said, it is through the idea of Atlas that a work methodology will be sought, capable of relating the different fragments, in view of the design of an architectural solution that responds to a current problem, the lack of student housing at Portugal. The work is presented as a narrative, building an argument that will take shape through the designed project. Initially identifying the right to habitat as the gear of the program to be developed, the work later builds a reading of the place, through more generic concepts and ideas. Clinging to a "rossian" discourse, the elements that make up the urban context are identified: from the residential area to the individual urban fact, passing through an isolated set of common character and the defense of a trend architecture, the work ends up going meeting the analogous city of Aldo Rossi. Subsequently, the type and model concepts are explored due to the importance they have in the construction of Fontaínhas, which the bourgeois house and the neighborhood of S.Vítor stand out. Finally, the intervention proposal is presented as a result of the influences exposed throughout the work, as well as seeking to give notice of a way of making architecture. It seeks to respond to a variaty of problems that students and architects face, in an urban context rich by its morphological diversity, but at the same time vacant with regard to the useful space it presents to its inhabitants.
