Description
Summary:The present document represents the final stage of the academic training as a physical education teacher, reflecting upon the teaching practice during the academic year 2016/2017 at Escola Secundária D. Maria II, in Braga. This is the period in which the student faces the reality of the work environment, and the teaching practice report describes this experience along the whole academic year, based on reflections, personal experiences, challenges, difficulties and successes, and supported by the existing literature on the field. The report consists of five chapters: (1) introduction, in which the goal of the document is presented; (2) personal context, in which the former experience and the reasons for following this field of studies are described; (3) professional context, in which the whole of the practical work context is explained; (4) professional practice experience, divided in three areas, which are the organization and management of teaching and learning, school integration and community relationship, and professional development; this chapter includes a study about the students' motivation for physical education classes; and finally (5) conclusions and future prospects, in which a general reflection about the importance of this teaching practice period is presented, as well as some final considerations. The research integrates the professional practice development area. This study aims to understand the weight of different internal and external factors in the young students' motivation for physical education classes also comparing genders and different learning cycles. The study arises from the perceived lack of motivation for practical classes that many students reveal, whitch extends itself to reduced physical activity habits by today's youth.
