| Summary: | RESUMO O epitáfio de Culua Paugendiae filia há muito identificado em Lamego (conventus Scallabitanus) suscita ainda dúvidas no seu verdadeiro significado, mormente do ponto de vista linguístico. Ambos os antropónimos são raros: de Culua não há, de momento, mais nenhum testemunho; e de Paugendius/a registou-se apenas outro, em Coria. Cumpre, pois, reflectir sobre a metodologia utilizada (ou a utilizar) para discernir a eventual atribuição dos antropónimos pré-romanos a determinada ‘família’ linguística. Next the Portuguese city of Lamego, in the Roman conventus Scallabitanus, the Cuua Paugendiae filia’s epitaph pose no little doubts about his significance, even in the Linguistic context. In fact, Culua is a unique and we have only another example of Paugendius in all the epigraphy of the Roman world. Perhaps, it will be an occasion to rethink our Linguistic methods to better explain the History.
