Description
Summary:In 2010 and 2011, an extensive archaeological intervention took place at the Hermitage Chapel of Espírito Santo, in Almada, before the renovation of the chapel in order to house the future Old Almada Interpretation Centre. The Chapel was completely excavated to reveal 86 graves with 88 individuals as well as a large quantity of scattered bones which have not been studied yet. This is a preparatory work which aims to describe the connections between the individuals inhumed at the Hermitage of Espírito Santo and the city of Almada from the 15th to the 18th century.
