| Summary: | In this Master thesis "Projecto de reabilitação de um edifício na Rua de Brito Capelo, Matosinhos - O processo de trabalho", an acknowledgement and background study substantiate the development of two rehabilitation projects for an existing building. This project arises from a real desire of its owners to intervene on the pre-existence. This exercise is complemented by all due process and documentation required to carry out a project, from the first site visits till the different solutions that take part on the development of the Execution Project. This thesis is divided into five chapters that allow the acknowledgment of the object of study, followed by the different work and project stages. These are the following: - An introduction of the clients and their proposal, that granted me a real object of study and order; - An urban and historical context of Matosinhos, that aims a better comprehension of the society and the events that marked the development of the urban mesh the most; - The documentation of the existing building, which involved a long work period, both field and investigation, with access to various documents from the municipal library and archive, and by other interveners that provided essential material to the completion of this thesis; - All work stages that contributed to the final solutions, including full documentation of the process. This thesis culminates on the presentation of the final projects, which are the result of an eventful journey. These are the reflection of all that was taught during a deep academic record, supplemented by my personal experience. It is intended that this whole process goes towards a realistic approach. Therefore, it is in my best interest that this essay provides me with the required experience to a future career, wherein the existence of a real client will give me the opportunity to have my first work as an architect, headed to the future intervention.
