Resumo: | How to build an idea of architecture? Considering how reality is assimilated and using it as a vehicle for the project, it was tried to reach a method, a project attitude, a critical distance over the work. The investigation started from the project, from the objective need to support the project-oriented action, as some kind of criticism against the systematic production without questioning. We need to reinvent the city, we need a city and for that we must consider what is the city we need. The work began with some questions: which relationship should be established with the architecture of the past? Which qualities of the historic town are usefull for the contemporary one? What is my idea of the city? How to build it? Throughout the work's process it was tried to find some new tools that would help build the section of the project. The work assumed two components: the development of theoretical tools and wandering through the city. The experience of the city revealed the need to define a critical point of view of the city pot, which is made of layers that are needed to be discovered, selected, identified. The project began in open, identified resources, valued certain attributes of the existing city, trying to reach new principles for the upcoming project. The thesis is divided into four sections: the 'assumptions', a set of readings that indicate the city's motto; the 'transurbancies', theoretical formulation that state the exposure to the city and explains how this record is done; 'sediments', an approach to the city where existing tools and criteria that have emerged in search of its own language are selected; the 'board of invention', which demonstrates the ability to initiate a new project in the existing city, a "shift of meaning", a mapping of small founder acts. To establish the origin of the project to a necessary extent, from a meaning, more than just the intention of a pleasure is the ethical duty of the architect and artist to the city.
