Resumo: | This work attempts to be regarded as a journey through the architectural design studio's working methodology, in Basel, highlighting the thematic variety and the methodologies used in its design process. Based on the working methodology of Harry Gugger Studio, the present work aims at clarifying the existence of an alternative process to achieve the architectural object. This methodology is based on the analysis and interpretation of the pedagogical practices taught at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH-Z) between the 60s and 80s. We will uncover the teaching pedagogies applied at that school by Bernhard Hoesli and Aldo Rossi, two of the most relevant academics of the referred school. We will focus on the meaning of different instruments used during the design process, through the outline of a strategy and/or formulation of an architectural work. Montana-areal and Kurvatur, two projects carried out in the Atelier, according to the themes Place, Program and Form, will be used as case studies.
