Resumo:The subject of this work deals with frames rehabilitation of old buildings' frames, reminding the need of compatibility between architectonic demands and the physics of construction, that is to say, the need to conserve the architectonic characteristics by improving the energetic and comfort behaviour. There are more and more demands placed to the frames so these can contribute to a better overall performance of the building. Thus, the demands the frames should fulfil assume great importance in the buildings' global context. This work aspires to contribute to the knowledge of demands that need to be satisfied by the frame of old buildings and for the structure of a model of exigencial dimensioning based in quality levels and consequent prediction of the performance in service. Being the model of dimensioning developed, its application is made in two old buildings. It's necessary to determine the quality level for each demand in order to be possible to attribute a global final classification. These buildings have a rehabilitation project, where in one of the buildings, the substitution of a part of the existing wood frames for a metallic one is preconized. In the other building, the introduction of a second frame on the inside was predicted due to the architectonic and urbanistic characteristics that have to be conserved and the need to improve acoustic behaviour. The application of the model results in a performance profile that allows to visualize the level of exigencial quality of the frame and compare its initial and final development. KEYWORDS: Old buildings, frames' rehabilitation, exigencial selection, model of exigencial dimensioning, exigencial evaluation.
