| Resumo: | Num mundo caracterizado simultaneamente pela globalização e por blocos regionais de comércio, o estreitamente das relações económicas e de cooperação entre a União Europeia e a América Latina constitui um factor importante para o bem-estar dos respectivos povos. No caso concreto de um acordo de comércio UE-Mercosul, tal corresponderá não só à salvaguarda dos interesses comunitários na América Latina, mas também à afirmação dos países latino-americanos perante os EUA, no contexto da constituição da ALCA. In a world characterized both by globalisation and regional trade blocs, the strengthening of economic and co-operation ties between European Union and Latin America nations represent an important factor to the well being of their people. In the concrete case of UE-Mercosur Association Agreement that will guarantee common interest in Latin America and will be the Latin America nations recognition before USA in the FTAA context.
