Description
Summary:Organic compounds are involved iii the manufacture of a wide variety of chemical products, generating in the process different kinds of liquid effluents with high chemical oxygen demand (COD) and high toxicity. Discharge of these waters without treatment into a river course is unacceptable, due to the toxic potential of some organic compounds or to depletion of the dissolved oxygen level, which can decrease below the level considered necessary to support aquatic life.
