| Resumo: | Partilhando a perspetiva de que os/as observadores/as têm um papel fundamental nas situações de bullying, o presente estudo procurou compreender fatores que levam os/as observadores/as a ajudar ou não as vítimas de bullying. Um total de 481 estudantes, do 5º ao 9º ano, de quatro escolas da região de Évora, participou no estudo. Para a recolha dos dados foi utilizado um questionário composto por algumas questões de caracterização sociodemográfica e escolar, e por duas escalas relacionadas com a observação de fenómenos de bullying: Escala de Comportamento de Observadores de Bullying (ECOB) e Escala de Avaliação e Sensibilidade Moral face ao Bullying (EASMB). Os resultados mostraram a existência de relações entre um conjunto de fatores (i.e. Falta de Sensibilidade Moral Básica, Afastamento da Situação de Bullying, Empatia e Desengajamento Moral) e os diferentes comportamentos dos/as observadores/as nas situações de bullying. Os principais resultados sugerem que as raparigas são mais propensas a atuar como defensoras, bem como os/as alunos/as mais novos/as comparativamente aos/às alunos/as mais velhos/as. Por outro lado, os/as alunos/as mais novos/as são também os/as que utilizam mais mecanismos de desengajamento moral (no bullying); "I see, I don't see ..." Motivational factors that lead observers to help or not victims of bullying Abstract: Sharing the perspective that observers have a key role in bullying situations this study aimed to understand factors that lead observers to help or not the victims of bullying. A total of 481 students from 5th to 9th grade, from four schools of Évora region, participated in the study. For data collection it was used a questionnaire with some questions of socio-demographic and school characterization, and two scales related with observation of bullying situations: Bullying Bystanders Behaviour Scale (ECOB) and Assessment and Moral Sensibility Scale towards Bullying (EASMB). The results showed the existence of relations between a set of factors (i.e. Lack of Basic Moral Sensitivity, Withdrawal from Bullying Situation, Empathy and Moral Disengagement) and the different behaviors of observers in bullying situations. The main results suggest that girls are more likely to act as defenders, as well as younger students compared to older students. On the other hand, younger students are also the ones that use more moral disengagement mechanisms (in bullying).
