| Summary: | A importância dos reservatórios na sociedade cresce todos os dias, pois o emprego destas estruturas facilita a distribuição da rede de água para os governos municipais e auxiliam o combate ao fogo devido a sua grande reserva de água. Este trabalho tem por objectivo referir alguns aspectos importantes no domínio da concepção e da análise estrutural de reservatórios, e fornecer também uma análise de alguns métodos de dimensionamento existentes, mostrando as principais diferenças entre eles e a sua relação entre os diferentes tipos de reservatórios. O desenvolvimento recente dos meios de cálculo automático permite hoje em dia analisar o comportamento de estruturas muito complexas. No entanto é possível cometer erros graves na definição dos modelos numéricos e ainda assim obter resultados. Dá a conhecer as soluções de impermeabilização mais importantes para reservatórios, e por último, tentou-se debruçar com algum cuidado a questão da estanqueidade e consequentemente, fendilhação nos reservatórios, visto ser das questões essenciais a ter em conta na projecção de um reservatório. ABSTRACT: The importance of reservoirs in society grows every day, since the use of these structures facilitates the distribution of water supply for municipal governments, and aids the fire fighting, due to its large quantity of water. This paper aims to give some important aspects in the design and structural analysis of reservoirs, and also provide an analysis of some of the existing methods, showing the main differences between them and the relationship between different types of reservoirs. The recent development of the means of automatic calculation, gives us the possibility to analyze the behaviour of very complex structures. However, you can make serious errors in the definition of numerical models and still get results. It showcases the waterproofing solutions for major reservoirs, and finally tried to examine with some care the question of the leakage and crack control, as it is two of key issues to take into account in every concrete tank design.
