| Summary: | Este relatório foi realizado no âmbito do estágio curricular, decorrido no Hospital Veterinário do Baixo Vouga, durante cinco meses. Encontra-se dividido em duas partes. A primeira componente é referente à casuística acompanhada ao longo do estágio, enquanto que a segunda consiste na revisão bibliográfica de mastocitoma intestinal felino, complementada com um caso clínico acompanhado durante o estágio. O mastocitoma intestinal felino é uma neoplasia maligna rara na prática clínica, constituindo, porém, o terceiro tumor intestinal mais frequente em gatos. Acomete, especialmente, gatos com uma idade média de treze anos. O seu diagnóstico envolve a associação entre vários exames, nomeadamente citológicos, histopatológicos, imunohistoquímicos e imagiológicos. O tratamento recomendado implica a resseção cirúrgica da massa tumoral, contudo, o tempo de sobrevivência pós-cirúrgico é relativamente curto. O prognóstico é reservado; Abstract: Small animals clinical practice: Feline intestinal mast cell tumor This report was elaborated following the traineeship at the Hospital Veterinário do Baixo Vouga, for five months. It is divided into two distinct parts. The first component covers the casuistry accompanied during traineeship, while the second component consists of a literature review of feline intestinal mast cell tumor, along with a case report followed during the internship. Feline intestinal mast cell tumor is a rare malignant neoplasm in the clinical practice. However, it is the third most frequent intestinal tumor in cats. It especially affects cats with an average of thirteen years. Its diagnosis involves the association between several exams, namely cytological, histopathological, immunohistochemical and imaging. The recommended treatment implicates surgical resection of the tumor, however, the postoperative survival time is relatively short and the prognosis is poor.
