Summary:The aim of this study is to analyse the research in accounting conducted in Portugal in recent years, identifying trends of evolution and future research opportunities. Based on bibliometric techniques, the study was carried out through the collection of information on master's dissertations / projects in the repositories of public polytechnic higher education institutions in Portugal that offer master’s degrees, in the area of accounting and management. From the study carried out, we observed that, mainly, the investigation developed is in the area of financial accounting, use a qualitative research approach based on document and content analysis and the study of private sector organizations.
