Summary: | This study investigates the effect of inflation of football transfer fees on financial and sports equality. To do so, have been analysed transfer market data and final standings of clubs from ten of the most important leagues in Europe from 2010 to 2019 to measure the equality both in the transfer market and on-pitch performances with the Gini coefficient. A quantitative method was applied using data retrieved from Transfer markt. com to compute the calculations needed by the research question. Results showed that equality in the transfer market did not decrease in the face of consistent inflation, while there has been a mildly negative effect on national leagues’ final standings. |
