| Resumo: | Os espaços abertos urbanos são um elemento fundamental de composição da urbe, contribuindo para a sua definição e estrutura. Eles representam um importante sistema de valor compositivo, social, ambiental e económico contribuindo com referências imprescindíveis para a leitura e identidade da cidade. A interpretação dos espaços abertos públicos urbanos da cidade de Maputo é realizada à escala da cidade, evidenciando a relação entre o sítio, o caráter do lugar e a morfologia urbana vertida nas tipologias. É realizada uma leitura geral da cidade, analisando os seus espaços abertos, decompostos em unidades tipológicas - praça, rua, jardim, cemitério, entre outras - focando a sua origem, relação com a fisiografia e evolução na cidade, terminando com um inventário das tipologias presentes. Conclui-se que o sistema de espaços abertos da cidade apresenta uma moderada relação com o sítio e que as tipologias mais significativas são fortemente marcadas pela presença da vegetação; ABSTRACT:The urban open spaces are a primary element of composition in the city, contributing to its definition and structure. They represent an important system of composition, social, environmental and economic value, contributing to the readout and identity of the city. Urban public open spaces in the city of Maputo interpretation is held at the city scale, showing the relationship between the place, its character and the urban morphology poured in typologies. It held a general reading of the city, analyzing its open spaces, decomposed into typological units - square, street, garden, cemetery, among others - focusing on their origin, relationship to the physiography and evolution in the city, ending with an inventory of the types present. It’s concluded that the city of open spaces system has a moderate relationship with the place and that the most significant types are strongly marked by the presence of vegetation.
