Description
Summary:Nutrition Policy means a set of measures intended to ensure inter universal access to food, considering the nutritional status and promotion of population health. Presenting different demographic, epidemio- logical and nutritional contexts, it is expected that Portugal and Brazil have different actions in these policies. In Brazil, the food and nutrition issues are present on the political diary since 1930. In Portugal only recently they are considered target of policy implementation. Actually, Brazil has a National Policy for Food and Nutrition. Portugal does not have yet a comprehensive nutrition policy, developing only a few specific programs that act in isolation. Being food and nutrition considered priority areas for health promotion, the interconnection of all programs into a single Food and Nutrition Policy would allow the conciliation of efforts to achieve a common aim.
