| Summary: | In a global scale, the dragon is a vastly known animal and replicated in all artistic means. In this way, it is most relevant to observe and understand this creature that so constantly appears in the most various art forms. In our daily lives it is placed in the most varied medium for entertainment or artistic purposes, being present in fables, fiction books, comic books, sculptures, paintings, short and long films. Additionally, in all those cases, the dragon carries symbolisms related to its representation that are most important to the themes of drawing and illustration. It not only needs a careful representation, it is also debated and suggested to be the origin of representation of ideas and divine icons. The eastern dragon – and in consequence, the dragon throughout the world – shows itself as a remarkable candidate as the symbol of all imaginary and folkloric beings, as well as the willpower of human beings to represent abstract concepts through drawings. Deep down, it’s the motivational force to translate imaginary concepts into the real world. Never has a human being seen such creature, however it is as present in our minds just as any other domestic animal, since its concept was germinated in our minds through representations and descriptions. In this context, it’s significant to explore ways of interpreting this mythological animal, since it is present in such a dominant way by consequence of its various appearances, particularly in illustrated form. The dragon will then be observed in its original context and worked through illustrations so that in can reproduce an image that is faithful to its origins. Through lyrical descriptions, as well as ancient art pieces, while studying the mythological being in detail, the author creates a series of illustrations that have in mind creating faithful representations to its original context
