About
CPLP Scientific Repository / CPLP Open Access Portal” is a flagship project that results from a deliberation of the VI Meeting of Ministers of Science, Technology and Higher Education, held in Maputo, on April 15, 2014. Its general objective is to promote, encourage and boost the construction of Spaces for Higher Education and Science and Technology of the CPLP, through the construction of the Scientific Repository of Portuguese language and the interconnection of the existing national scientific repositories.
This project has a community scope allowing the use of the CPLP Scientific Repository by the Member States that do not yet have a national scientific repository, as well as support for the construction of national repositories.
Project execution, which lasts for 4 years (October 2021 to September 2025), is in charge of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) – Node FCCN, the University of Minho and the Brazilian Institute of Scientific Information.
Project execution foresees the implementation of:
- An aggregator Portal of scientific contents made available by National Portals of Member States (examples: RCAAP or OASISBR), by Institutional Repositories of Member States (Ex: www.portaldoconhecimento.gov.cv) and/or by the Common Repository infrastructure of the CPLP;
- A CPLP Common Repository with the aim of creating and providing an infrastructure to house the scientific production of Member States that have not yet implemented a repository infrastructure. For each Member State that so wishes, a community will be created in the Common Repository of CPLP, with a name, graphic image and other individualized identification and customization details, in accordance with the Member State's requirements. Each community will be able to collect and provide access to scientific content produced by the various national scientific and academic institutions, being organized into sub-communities corresponding to the different participating institutions (Universities, Research Centers, etc.); and,
- Training actions with the aim of training repository managers in order to promote the implementation and management of these systems in institutions producing scientific knowledge. In this sense, the following actions are planned:
- Creation of a training course for managers of open access digital repositories, which will be set upped and administered using an online platform for distance learning (MOODLE);
- The holding of three face-to-face Workshops (one per year, from the second year of project implementation), with the aim of reinforcing the training of repositories managers and allowing the exchange of experiences and clarification of doubts in a practical context. It is intended that these Workshops will take place in different CPLP countries, in close partnership with Higher Education and/or Research and Development Institutions from CPLP Member States.
